Our Introduction to Management course is offered three times a year. Each one day module introduces participants to key management concepts for managing a team, and managing a project, which you can then choose to further develop on the Certificate in Practice Management (CPM) or Management & Leadership Programme (MLP).
This course is for new and soon to be managers, and aims to give you actionable tips and equip you with some of the basic skills needed to head a team and lead a project.
We are in the process of completely revising and updating our training courses and our plan is to roll out an entirely new programme for early 2025. As an example of what we have done thus far, our Management & Leadership Programme has provided training in key areas of management and leadership including (but not limited to):
-
Strategic and operational planning
-
Financial planning and management
-
Communications
-
Fundraising
-
Governance
-
Compliance
-
Recruitment
-
Induction, training and supervision
-
Effective feedback
-
Time management
-
Leadership skills
-
Crisis management
-
Equity, diversity and inclusion
Each year we have offered 30 fully-funded places.
Learners have attended around 10 Information Exchanges (full-day lecture and discussion session) as well as a similar number of half-day seminars where they can bring management challenges for discussion.
Throughout the programme they have access to our Thinkific learning platform and are supported by our learning team. In addition, participants are allocated a personal tutor who provides them with the opportunity of additional one-to-one support. The lead tutors for 2025 are Matthew Howgate and Jayne Butler.
